Zaiger, LLC === In 2023, Valve sued a law firm, Zaiger, alleging that it attempted to extort settlements from Valve by threatening to bring numerous antitrust arbitration cases on behalf of Steam customers, a tactic referred to as "mass arbitration". Valve also brought suit against a litigation financier for Zaiger over the funding of a social media campaign to recruit Steam users as clients. Valve alleged that it improperly interfered with its contracts with Steam customers and abused the arbitration process by signing up clients with the intent of obtaining settlements slightly lower than the cost of arbitration filing fees, rather than arbitrating their claims. Valve said that it was targeted due to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, in which Valve would be responsible for the fees and costs associated with arbitration. The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice by the US District Court for the Western District of Washington in 2024 due to personal jurisdiction issues. In September 2024, Valve changed its Steam Subscriber Agreement to require disputes to proceed in court, specifically in King County, Washington, with no option of arbitration.

On Thursday, March 11, 2004, three days before the general elections, the 11-M bombings took place in Madrid. Ten bombs exploded in four commuter trains, killing 191 people and injuring more than 1,500. It was the biggest terrorist attack in Spanish and European history and the political parties decided to end the electoral campaign. Initially it was thought to have been the work of ETA, a suspicion confirmed by Interior Minister Ángel Acebes a few hours later. However, the police investigation soon leaned towards Islamist terrorism linked to Al-Qaeda — responsible for the attacks of 9/11 — although the popular government maintained that the main hypothesis was still ETA. The confusion over the authorship of the attack was evident in the massive demonstrations of rejection of terrorism that took place the following day – some 11 of millions of people took to the streets on March 12 – when part of the attendees shouted "Who did it?" and "We want to know the truth" and others "ETA murderer". On the afternoon of Saturday, March 13, "day of reflection" for the elections of the following day, several thousand demonstrators gathered in front of the PP headquarters in the main cities accusing the Government of "hiding the truth" and demanding "to know the truth before voting", as well as shouting "No to war". At 8 o'clock in the evening, Minister Acebes appeared to inform of the arrest of five Moroccans as alleged perpetrators of the attacks.
=== White versus black === Until the mid-1920s, students who were examining cadavers would wear black lab coats to show respect for the dead. Black lab coats were used in early biomedical and microbiology laboratories. On November 10, a Twitter account impersonating the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company—one of the three largest manufacturers of insulin—posted a tweet stating that insulin would be made free. According to The Washington Post, Twitter failed to respond to the company for several hours. The incident resulted in Eli Lilly pulling advertisements from Twitter. United States senator Bernie Sanders used the tweet to highlight the price of insulin as other users began creating satirical accounts jovially apologizing for making insulin free, with one such account writing, "Humalog is now $400. We can do this whenever we want and there's nothing you can do about it". The identity of the user who posted the tweet remained unknown until November 22, when Sean Morrow, a 34-year-old writer for the media organization More Perfect Union, admitted to operating the account and writing the tweet. In a video, Morrow stated that he used the account of the Mothman running for the United States Senate for West Virginia, and put that the account was a parody in its biography. Morrow took the video to detail the history of insulin manufacturing and the monopolization of the insulin industry. Eli Lilly further lowered the price of insulin in March 2023.
